Accounting Scholarship Foundation
The CTCPA Accounting Scholarship Foundation helps tomorrow’s CPAs today by providing scholarships and grants to accounting students at Connecticut high schools, colleges, and universities.

Accounting, Auditing, and Financial Reporting Special Interest Group
The Accounting, Auditing & Financial Reporting Group meets to discuss issues surrounding AA & R and also plans the annual CTCPA Accounting and Auditing Conference.

Advisory Council
The Advisory Council serves as a sounding board or source of information on contemporary issues regarding the accounting profession and the individual membership of the organization. This may include virtually any issue that affects CPAs and their employment organization or the activities or governance of the society itself. At least half of those appointed to the Advisory Council must be currently chairing a CTCPA committee or interest group or, at the discretion of the Nominating Committee, the designees of those chairs.

Audit-Review Committee
The Audit-Review Committee consists of an at-large member of the Board of Directors and four appointed members who recommend an independent CPA to the Board of Directors. The CPA selected by the committee audits the financial statements of the Society and its affiliated organizations as of the end of each fiscal year. Upon completion, the committee receives and reviews the auditor’s report and recommendations and then submits its findings to the Board of Directors.

Bylaws Committee
Members of the Bylaws Committee are appointed annually by the CTCPA Chair. A proposal to amend the Constitution or Bylaws may be made by any member in good standing, the Bylaws Committee, or the Board of Directors; the proposal must be submitted in writing to the Bylaws Committee.

This community is a gathering place for news, information, and support for aspiring CPAs.

CTCPA’s Cannabis Group enables members involved in this niche area the opportunity to discuss insights, technical changes, accounting policies, and best practices. Members looking to learn more about this area of practice are also welcome.

Employee Benefit Plans Group
The Employee Benefit Plans Group monitors developments in the employee benefit plans arena. Friendly, interactive meetings include roundtable discussion of changes affecting plans, auditors, and employers. The group features diversified professionals e.g., auditors, actuaries, third party administrators, and attorneys, engaged in the EBP area. Outreach to the broader membership includes an annual networking social and sponsoring of an annual Employee Benefit Plans Conference.

The Environmental, Social, and Governance Group is designed for finance professionals in public practice, industry, and academia to discuss and collaborate on sustainability reporting, disclosures, risk management, and more.

Fairfield County New & Young Professionals Cabinet
The Fairfield County New and Young Professionals Cabinet includes individuals across various public and private firms, nominated to serve as leaders amongst the CTCPA’s new and young professionals in Fairfield County. The members strive to get involved with the CTCPA and bridge the gap between the CTCPA members and those entering the profession. The Cabinet’s objectives include networking, professional awareness, and giving back.

Federal Taxation Group
The Federal Income Taxation Group is a team of tax professionals that work together to educate its members on changes and nuances of federal tax laws and/or regulations affecting individuals, corporations, and pass through entities. This is accomplished through sponsored expert speakers, committee member meetings, and at the annual tax forum. Members can also take advantage of CTCPA Connect, a private online community where members ask questions and discuss tax related issues in real time.

The CTCPA Finance Committee works with the CTCPA staff and Board of Directors to identify opportunities, focus financial decisions on membership ROI, and help leverage funds to best reach organizational goals.

Financial Institutions Group
This group convenes a diverse gathering of professionals in the banking/credit granting industry, including CPAs directly employed in the industry, CPAs in public accounting, CPA consultants, regulators, non-CPA executives, and others.
Group members review national and local industry trends, as well as federal and state regulatory and legislative developments and pronouncements specific to the industry. Specific topics of interest to the credit grantors are presented by group members and meetings frequently are recommended for continuing professional education credit.

The CTCPA Golf Tournament Group’s mission is organizing and administering the annual CTCPA Accounting Scholarship Foundation Golf Tournament which provides a fun and relaxing day of golf while raising money for scholarships to future accounting professionals.

The Governmental Accounting and Auditing Group meets to discuss developments, new regulations, and compliance issues in the field of governmental accounting and auditing. Group members include both public sector finance professionals and those who serve them in public accounting. Members also plan the annual CTCPA Governmental Accounting and Auditing Conference held every spring.

The mission of the Internal Auditors Group is to provide a collaborative platform for internal auditors from various organizations to share insights, discuss challenges, and explore opportunities in the field of internal auditing. By fostering an open exchange of ideas, best practices, and experiences, the group aims to enhance the professional development of its members, drive innovation in audit practices, and contribute to the overall advancement of the internal auditing profession.

Investment Committee
The purpose of the Investment Committee is to prudently and effectively manage the CTCPA’s and the CTCPA Accounting Scholarship Foundation’s (ASF) investment accounts. The group is compromised of at least four at-large CTCPA members (not including ex officio members) selected for their investment acumen. The CTCPA treasurer also serves on the committee as the board’s liaison and to serve as the Investment Committee’s representative on the Finance Committee.

The Not-for-Profit Organizations Group discusses current issues such as accounting, auditing, taxes, and financial reporting for not-for-profit organizations and those with not-for-profit clients.

The CTCPA Peer Review Committee’s mission it to implement the peer review program established by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants on behalf of the Connecticut State Board of Accountancy. Appointment to this committee is at the discretion of the CTCPA Chair.

The TechConneCT Roundtable Community is the place to be between TechConneCT quarterly meetings. Powered by your peers, this is the technology Q&A Community. TechConneCT Roundtable meetings are held virtually every quarter featuring a different main topic. All CTCPA members are welcome to attend and participate in discussion with our technology experts. No CPE is offered but the advice is priceless! This community is hosted by the Technology Committee, whose mission is to educate and assist CTCPA members with all aspects of technology, with particular focus on technologies that touch the accounting world.
